At IOM, we are committed to diversity and inclusion. There are over 70 million deaf people worldwide, with more than 80% living in developing countries. Providing access to national sign languages demonstrates our dedication to creating a more inclusive workplace and ensuring that we address the needs of individuals with disabilities. In our work with migrants, this will facilitate better communication with those who have hearing impairments. Additionally, using sign language in the field will help overcome communication barriers and allow for meaningful interactions with individuals who might otherwise be marginalized.
