WHO is seeking for a qualified, eligible and competent proposer for the Technical Assistance for the Development of Strategic Documents on Accomplishments and Future Directions in the Western Pacific The WHO Regional Office for the Western Pacific supports a diverse region that ranges from megacities to small island nations. The Region prioritizes strategic planning, evidence-based reporting and strong partnerships to guide interventions and monitor progress. Dr Saia Ma'u Piukala, the first Pacific Islander appointed as Regional Director (RD), introduced the symbol of weaving a mat to represent collective efforts toward better health and well-being. As part of transparent reporting and vision-setting, a report on the first 1000 days of the Regional Director will highlight progress since his appointment and outline future plans to maximize the impact of resources at both country and regional levels. In parallel, a scale-up strategy will be developed for the seventy-seventh session of the World Health Organization Regional Committee for the Western Pacific to accelerate actions on high-priority issues such as immunization, tobacco control, and hypertension. Additionally, the Philippine-Pacific Health Initiative strengthens regional collaboration in response to shared challenges including health workforce shortages and limited access to specialized care in Pacific island countries and areas. As part of this initiative, WHO is facilitating collaboration between the Philippines and Tonga to address service delivery gaps by deploying a medical team to provide clinical services and on-site training.
