It works to enhance regional and national law enforcement capacities through technical assistance and capacity building, particularly in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Recognizing a major gap in understanding the gender dynamics of wildlife and forest crime, UNODC, in partnership with the Government of Canada, is launching research focused on Southeast Asia—specifically Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand. The project aims to explore the roles women play in both enabling and preventing illegal wildlife trade. Field researchers will be engaged to collect and analyze data related to gender roles in wildlife crime, with a focus on key species in the region.
