Background: The UN Petrol Station, located within the UN Compound at Gigiri in Nairobi, is a refueling and vehicle servicing point for UN staff and the diplomatic corps in Nairobi. To enhance the facility's operation, the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) is seeking information from qualified suppliers on services for supplying, installing, maintaining, and servicing waterless toilets, also known as "composting toilets," at the fuel station, specifically for the petrol station's staff. The decision to install waterless toilets stems from the limited capacity of the septic tank in the area. To minimize the frequency of emptying the septic tank, solutions are being sought to reduce water inflow into the septic system. Objective: The purpose of this Request for Information (RFI) is to gather information to understand the technical boundaries and conditions, as well as the cost implication of the service. UNON intends to use the information to identify local suppliers in Nairobi Kenya who can provide waterless toilets and the related maintenance services. Scope of the RFI: Qualified suppliers are requested to provide detailed information on their available washroom equipment and required services to maintain and operate them. Specifically, suppliers are requested to provide comprehensive details on: ( 1) Equipment requirements and explanation • “Compost toilets” including all necessary equipment and materials • Other available sanitary facilities that do not require water • Explanation of function and chemism of waterless toilet process (2) Product Catalog • Provide detailed descriptions and specifications of the listed facilities including all necessary items, materials, chemicals (if needed) and personnel for servicing, operating, maintaining them. (3) Disposal procedure (4) Treatment • Provide information on what happens to the waste products when they are collected (collection process, treatment process, treatment facility, endproduct, etc.) (5) Pricing Structure • Provide information for itemized cost for the service to install and operate toilets on the premisses of the UN (Fuel station). • Provide clear and detailed purchasing terms including any discounts for bulk purchase if applicable. (6) Leasing Options • Provide detailed lease terms, including duration, maintenance responsibilities and options for lease to own. (7) Training and Demonstrations • Provide information offered on training to staff on usage and maintenance of equipment • Provide Instructional materials or videos on equipment usage and maintenance if applicable. (8) Delivery and Installation: • Provide timelines for delivery • Outline the delivery options (9) Company experience: • Provide information on your company background, experience in the waste management industry.
