The United Nations Mission in central Africa (MINUSCA) is a peacekeeping mission operating in the Central African Republic. MINUSCA is currently exploring the feasibility for developing a solid waste engineered sanitary landfill at the BIMBO Waste Management Facility (BWMF) which covers a total area of 25 hectares. MINUSCA endeavors to ensure that waste management practices followed by the Mission are in compliance with the UN Environmental Policy for Peacekeeping Operations and Field Based Political Missions, CAR National regulations and international best practice and standards that aim at “preventing or reducing as far as possible negative effects on the environment, in particular the pollution of surface water, groundwater, soil and air, and on the global environment, including the greenhouse effect, as well as any resulting risk to human health, from the landfilling of waste and during the whole life-cycle of a landfill facility”. Within this context MINUSCA seeks the engagement of a reputable and experienced Consultancy Company to provide services to coordinate, prepare and conduct required environmental and social impact assessment assessment (ESIA), engineering design and technical assistance for a new four (4) hectare sanitary landfill construction inside the BWMF.
