As part of the Enhancing Women’s Urban and Rural Resilience and Livelihoods project, IOM has conducted a technical assessment to determine the most effective renewable energy solutions for women-led agricultural cooperatives in Jowhar and Belet Weyne. The assessment identified: • Solar-powered water pumps to replace diesel irrigation systems. • Milling machine suitable for local crops and sustainable farming. • Business and market opportunities for women farmers to scale their agricultural production. • Potential Women Cooperatives to be formed or strengthened, strategically grouped based on proximity, shared crop types, and common agricultural interests, ensuring collective access to irrigation, milling machine, and market linkages. This final implementation phase seeks to install these systems, train beneficiaries, and create sustainable linkages for cooperatives, enabling long-term resilience, productivity, and market access.
