LRPS-2024- 9193757 Design and Facilitation of Leadership and Advocacy Training for UNICEF’s Young People Advisory Board

ProcureProcess - UNICEF Thailand Non Governmental 2024-10-28 to 2024-11-20
UNICEF is seeking a contractor to support the design and facilitation of the annual Leadership and Advocacy Training for the third cohort of UNICEF’s Young People Advisory Board members. Background Promoting young people’s participation is at the heart of UNICEF’s work. Over the years, UNICEF has worked closely with young people to empower them as drivers of change through a range of initiatives. We have strengthened platforms for youth participation, bringing together children and young people from diverse backgrounds and promoting their involvement in accountability and decision-making processes. We also support young people in developing the skills needed to express their opinions, understand their rights, and advocate for themselves and their peers. UNICEF’s Young People Advisory Board (YPAB) plays a key role in advancing this mission. Since its inception, two cohorts of YPAB members have worked alongside UNICEF to ensure the systematic and meaningful engagement of young people in programmes and advocacy initiatives. The YPAB provides a platform where youth can share their experiences and needs, contributing to accountability and decision-making mechanisms that directly impact the lives of young people across Thailand. The programme also focuses on nurturing leadership, building skills, and enhancing members' understanding of their communities and country, while improving their ability to communicate their needs effectively to the wider society.   For the upcoming YPAB cohort (3rd generation), 25 young people will be recruited to serve as a sounding board for UNICEF Thailand. Throughout their 2-year tenure (January 2025 - December 2026), these members will engage in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of UNICEF initiatives. They will provide critical advice on the country programme, advocacy efforts, partnerships, and youth engagement across various topics, including health and wellbeing, education and school-to-work transition, employability, violence against children, youth participation, and climate change. Objectives, Purpose & Expected results UNICEF is seeking a contractor to support the design and facilitation of the annual Leadership and Advocacy Training for the third cohort of UNICEF’s Young People Advisory Board members. Building the skills of the YPAB to be active members, such as leadership and advocacy skills, is essential to the success of the YPAB. To support this, UNICEF plans to organize a 3-day Advocacy and Leadership Camp for the newly elected YPAB members. This camp is not only an opportunity for members to develop crucial skills, such as critical thinking, communication, advocacy or teamwork, but also a chance for them to get to know each other and build a sense of connection. Additionally, the training represents a valuable opportunity for members to visit UNICEF’s premises in Bangkok and become familiar with UNICEF programmes. By fostering these skills and providing exposure to UNICEF’s work, the training ensures that YPAB members are well-equipped to contribute meaningfully to UNICEF’s initiatives and advocacy efforts. The target group for the camp consists of 25 young people between the ages of 10-23 from various regions of Thailand.  Location and Duration - The assignment should be completed within 4 months after signing of the contract (tentatively from January to April 2025). A detailed workplan will be agreed with the awarded contractor. - The contractor will work in Bangkok, Thailand, in close collaboration with UNICEF and YPAB which are based in Bangkok. Regular virtual or in-person meetings are expected. - The assignment will be completed at the contractor’s premises.
