The United Nations Support Office in Haiti (UNSOH), through its Engineering and Facilities Management Unit (EFMU), is implementing environmental sustainability initiatives aimed at improving solid waste segregation and reducing the environmental impact of waste management activities across UNSOH facilities and colocations in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. In line with the Mission Environmental Policy, UNSOH intends to establish a contract for the supply and delivery of biodegradable trash bags, which will replace conventional plastic bags used in daily waste handling operations. The contract is envisaged for an initial period of one (1) year, with an option to extend for up to two (2) additional years (1+1 basis), subject to UNSOH’s mandate, funding availability, and satisfactory contractor performance. Indicative Scope of Supply The successful contractor will be required to supply biodegradable trash bags meeting internationally recognized environmental standards, including but not limited to: • 4-gallon biodegradable trash bags (preferred color: green) • 13-gallon biodegradable trash bags (preferred color: blue) All bags shall be tear-resistant, eco-friendly, and certified biodegradable or compostable in accordance with recognized international standards such as ASTM D6400, EN 13432, ISO 17088, or equivalent. Delivery shall be made to UNSOH facilities in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, in accordance with UN delivery and labeling requirements as detailed in the future solicitation documents PURPOSE OF THIS REOI This Request for Expression of Interest (REOI) is issued for market research purposes only. The objective is to identify qualified and experienced vendors with the technical capacity and proven experience to supply biodegradable bags in accordance with UN environmental and quality standards. Submission of an EOI does not constitute a commitment by UNSOH to issue a solicitation, nor does it entitle any vendor to be invited to participate in any subsequent solicitation process.
