The Facility for Action for Climate Empowerment to achieve the Nationally Determined Contributions (FACE-NDC) project is a seven-year (2023–2030) initiative jointly implemented by FAO (lead partner), UNESCO, UNITAR, the University of Zambia (UNZA), and Copperbelt University (CBU). FACE-NDC’s main objective is to empower key actors and institutions to contribute effectively to achieving the Zambia’s climate commitments (NDCs) across key sectors such as forestry, agriculture, and energy. The project supports the National Climate Change Learning Strategy (2019) by strengthening institutional and individual capacities, integrating climate change education (CCE) into formal education, and promoting skills for sustainable development. UNESCO leads activities under the formal education component, focusing on mainstreaming climate change education (CCE), education for sustainable development (ESD), and gender-responsive pedagogy into Zambia’s curriculum and teacher training frameworks. UNESCO in collaboration with the Ministry of Education in Zambia, seeks for an international organization’s partnership to support the strengthening of climate change education and education for sustainable development in line with Zambia’s 2023 Curriculum Framework. The assignment will validation/peer review of the national CCE framework, production/adaptation, piloting and validation of training materials for teachers and learning aids and build teacher capacity through master trainer approach. This assignment is also aimed at providing technical guidance towards effective promotion of school-level climate action or change projects to empower learners and strengthen institutional resilience. By combining your technical expertise with support for local implementation, this collaboration will advance Zambia’s NDC3.0 targets and contribute to long-term climate resilience and sustainable development.
