The United Nations (UN) requires the services of a Contractor capable of providing a managed personnel/staffing service with Conferencing and Broadcast skills and experience, to work at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The Broadcast and Conference Support Section, (BCSS) manages this Conferencing, Telecommunications and Broadcast Operations and Maintenance, related areas of the United Nations headquarters in New York. The contractor will provide personnel who will be able to operate and maintain with a high level of skill all the technology and systems related to meeting and service delivery under the responsibility of BCSS. These technologies include but are not limited to: Congress Microphone and Simultaneous Interpretation equipment, Professional Broadcasting, archiving and transmission systems, and professional audio-visual equipment and systems. Through the contract, BCSS provides manage the relevant spaces and the operational, engineering and administrative expertise, facilities and personnel to accomplish tasks required by the Members states and the Secretariat of the United Nations. The service provision is ongoing and critical to the work of the United Nations at an operational level BCSS is analogous to the Engineering and Operations Department in a broadcast station and a fully managed conference facility providing end-to-end in the areas of in-person, hybrid and fully virtual meetings. Of special note BCSS conference operations deliver the technology facilitating six language interpretation and translation required for many UN Meetings. The services to be provided will be on an “as required basis” per day. It is estimated that the required pool of staffing per year is approximately sixty (60) technicians. Current typical demand is such that Conference Operations will require a minimum of twenty (20) fully engaged staff with a variable surge and Production Operations will require nine (9) fully engaged staff with a variable surge requirement. Eighty per cent (80%) of the staffing requirement can be planned one week ahead and will be on a scheduled basis. Twenty per cent will be confirmed preferably within twelve hours (the evening before), though it may happen that confirmation may be provided with less lead time. In both cases, the UN Project Manager will inform of the service requirements to the Contractor’s focal point of Project Manager detailing the number of personnel required as well as the area of expertise. The detailed scope of requirements will be provided in the Request for Proposal (RFP), which will be sent out to all vendors responding to this EOI.
