PROJECT BACKGROUNDUNDP supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through integrated programmatic, policy, and financing solutions. To strengthen this work, it established the Global Policy Network (GPN), bringing together global and field-based expertise, led by the Bureau for Policy and Programme Support (BPPS) and the Crisis Bureau (CB). Within this framework, the Governance, Rule of Law, and Peacebuilding (GRP) Hub—jointly led by BPPS and CB—provides leadership and advisory support to enhance governance and peacebuilding efforts, ensuring the integration of democratic governance and human rights into crisis response and recovery. The Hub promotes collaboration across stakeholders, including the UN system, international financial institutions, civil society, and the private sector. Through its Local Action workstream, the GRP Hub focuses on strengthening the role of local and regional governments, recognizing them as key actors in delivering public services, driving innovation, and implementing over 65% of SDG targets. Cities and territories play a critical role in advancing Agenda 2030 by integrating SDGs into planning, budgeting, and service delivery. As part of the SDG Local Action project, UNDP organizes a webinar series to facilitate knowledge exchange among local governments, showcasing practical solutions and innovations for SDG implementation. The 2026 series will address key development challenges such as housing, food systems, local economic development, public health, digitalization, climate resilience, and municipal finance, with a strong focus on inclusive, sustainable, and resilient service delivery. The series will include multiple thematic sessions based on priorities identified by local governments. One dedicated webinar on real estate and urban development—featuring expert discussions and practical case studies—is planned for April 2026, with outputs to be recorded and disseminated.
