The purpose of this project is to design and execute a turnkey project/system that generates electricity using renewable energy that converts sunlight into electricity while decreasing the reliance on the existing diesel generators. ESCWA is seeking specialised Contractor for the provision of a design for a photovoltaic (PV) solar system and a design for its mounting structure on the roof (approximately 440 m2) and on the ground floor (approximately 1500m2) (as shown in the images below) for the UN House in Beirut. The design shall also include reinforcement of existing roof structures for the vehicular entrance and exit where needed. The PV solar system shall be an on-grid system. The system shall operate in parallel/synchronized with the building’s main sources of energy; the existing diesel generators and Électricité du Liban (EDL). The project consists of supplying and installing the complete on-grid PV solar system and its metal structure on the roof and ground floor based on the submitted and approved designs. The works include, but are not limited to; supplying and installing PV solar panels, metal structure, reinforcement of existing structures where needed, inverters, new electric panels for the system, connection to existing grounding system, remote monitoring interface, electrical cables and conduits in addition to all the required electrical connections in between PV panels to inverters, testing and commissioning of the system and all the necessary accessories for the proper functioning of the complete system. The contractor shall install the project such that it is operational and compliant with all applicable standards, building codes, and UN House’s interconnection requirements. To be qualified, Interested companies/Contractors must have a minimum of 10 years of proven experience in the fields of contracting, renewable energy and engineering services. The experience shall consist of large-scale and complex photovoltaic solar systems similar to the proposed project. The company must be registered in the Lebanese commercial register and authorized to exercise in the required field of activity and must be certified by the Lebanese Ministry of Energy.
