Country: The Gambia    Description of the Assignment: National Consultant to review the legal aid legislative frameworks with a view to establishing a structured pro bono mechanism that includes para legals and Alternative Dispute Resolution Specialists  Period of assignment/services : 60 working daysOBJECTIVES OF THE CONSULTANCYThe Consultant will:1. review the Legal aid legislative frameworks including the Legal Aid Act 20082. widely consult with key stakeholders on how to establish a pro bono mechanism which will be inclusive of paralegals and Alternative Dispute Resolution Specialists3. provide recommendations on the legislative frameworks for legal aid in The Gambia4. Submit final report on the legislative review of the legal aid framework in the GambiaSCOPE OF THE WORKSpecific activities will include:1. Identify relevant laws and policies on legal aid in The Gambia vis-à-vis pro bono mechanisms and Alternate Dispute Resolution2. Conduct a comprehensive review of existing legal framework on legal aid The Gambia.3. Present preliminary findings and seek feedback from stakeholders to validate findings and recommendations from the review of the legislative framework on legal ais in The Gambia4. Foster collaboration and partnerships among stakeholders to support the implementation of the recommendations arising from the review of the legal framework on legal aid in The Gambia.Proposal should be submitted directly in the portal no later than indicated deadline.Any request for clarification must be sent in writing via messaging functionality in the portal.
