Since 2015, local governments and their associations have been increasingly active in promoting the SDGs through advocacy, working with their local population and partners in transposing the spirit of Agenda 2030 in cities and territories. To address this, the development of the Abha Visual Revival Tool (AVRT) system is proposed. This system will leverage advanced image recognition and geospatial technologies to detect, classify, and prioritize visual pollution elements across the city. It will also support the design and implementation of targeted interventions to restore urban coherence and visual harmony. The impact of this initiative is multifaceted, as it enhances the quality of life for residents by creating cleaner and more organized public spaces, improves safety for children and the elderly by reducing visual clutter and hazards, boosts business opportunities and tourism through a more attractive urban image, and strengthens civic pride and identity, thereby fostering deeper community engagement.
