As 2026 marks the 15th anniversary of the ILO Domestic Workers Convention, 2011 (No. 189), the ILO is seeking to produce to new global estimates on domestic work, including on the number of domestic workers, their share in employment, and their working conditions. To this end, the first objective of this assignment is to produce updated country-level estimates for as many countries as possible on the number of domestic workers in alignment with the 20th International Conference of Labour Statisticians (ICLS) resolution concerning statistics on work relationships and step by step associated methodology presented in Appendix 4 of Making decent work a reality for domestic workers that go beyond a narrow "industry-only" definition. In doing so, estimates cover all domestic workers whether they are employed directly by households (the economic activity approach) or through intermediaries (combining information on occupations and place of work). A second objective is to assess selected socio-demographic features and working conditions of domestic workers compared to other workers, and to other employees. The consultant will use the ILOSTAT microdata repository to perform the following tasks: 1. Create a new variable on the place of work 2. Implement the identification sequence allowing for the identification of all domestic workers 3. Create a new variable on domestic workers in ILOSTAT to facilitate the production of future estimates on domestic work If you are interested, please express interest and follow the instructions attached to consult the detailed terms of reference and other relevant information in the ILO e-sourcing platform. Please submit your proposal before the specified deadline. Thank you.
