UNICEF has now issued a Request for Proposals in order to select a supplier for the provision of Design Standards and Carrying Out Research on New Technology for Child Anthropometry. This tender will be run through the UNICEF e-submissions system. The expected results of the work are: Consensus-based standards for efficacy and effectiveness studies on technology for child anthropometry are available for researchers worldwide, and the standards are used in research and by UNICEF to determine which anthropometric equipment is accepted by Supply Division and included in the UNICEF Supply Catalogue for use in countries around the globe; and Research briefs on anthropometric standardization exercises in population-based surveys, replicate length/height measurement techniques in population-based surveys, and anthropometric remeasurement quality assurance procedures during data collection in population-based surveys are produced, endorsed by TEAM and disseminated in a peer-reviewed publication; and A 3D imaging system with artificial intelligence is tested for child acute malnutrition screening in an emergency setting and a determination can be made on whether or not the technology is ready to be evaluated in a large-scale study that will inform global scale-up. Please note that in order to access the tender documentation through UNICEF’s e-submissions system, vendors must: (i) be registered with UNICEF in UNGM as a company/NGO; (ii) have successfully completed all mandatory information currently required by UNGM when registering.
