Description of Services 1 Marine recreational fisheries data collection Under the framework of the newly launched GFCM research programme on recreational fisheries, where Morocco is one of the participating countries, the data collection is foreseen to be carried out for the Moroccan Mediterranean Sea coast. The aim of this research is to investigate the marine recreational fishing activity in the Moroccan Mediterranean Sea coastal provinces. The research will be carried out adhering to the methodology outlined in the “Handbook for Recreational Fisheries Data Collection in the Mediterranean and Black Sea” (Grati et al., 2021). The work involves conducting a Telephone screening survey. 2 Telephone screening survey The Service Provider/Contractor will be responsible for the identification of the statistical universe of recreational fishers in the Moroccan Mediterranean Sea coast, 6 Provinces (Tétouan, Chefchaouen, Al Hoceima, Driouch, Nador and Berkane) and 1 Prefecture (M'diq Fnideq) (Figure 1). To estimate the population of marine recreational fishers residing in the 6 Provinces and 1 Prefecture along the Moroccan Mediterranean Sea shoreline, the Service Provider/Contractor will conduct a telephone screening survey on a complete roster of resident households on a sample of 5,000 phone numbers which are randomly extracted from the Moroccan directory for fixed and/or mobile telephones. The sample size is identified in order to have an error of <5%. This selection adheres to a stratified sampling scheme, where design weights are applied to both coastal and non-coastal municipalities with a distribution of 70 percent coastal and 30 percent non-coastal.
